"TACO BILL" MCGARVEY TO MATCH MASTERS DONATIONS TO FUNDRAISER

Long-time FAST swimmer Bill McGarvey challenged his Masters teammates this morning after practice.  McGarvey, aka "Taco Bill", announced that he would match all Masters donations up to $1,000 to the "Island Time" fundraiser next weekend.

He encouraged the group to give whatever they could, noting that if all 90 registered FAST Masters swimmers contributed it would be a significant amount raised towards a new timing system, lane lines and other infrastructure items which are sorely needed.

Bill also wanted to remind everyone that FAST is a non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.

Masters are also encouraged to support the fundraiser by attending the event itself on Saturday, October 29 from 3:00-6:00 pm.  Those interested are asked to register on the FAST website (look in the events section near the bottom of the home page). Individuals may also contact Coach Keith Moore (kmoore@fastswimming.net) by this Friday to indicate their interest. The cost is $25 which helps cover the cost of food, drink, entertainment, and decorations.

Masters swimmers are also highly encouraged to participate in the "Swim The Islands" event itself which is a 1-hour swim in the pool around pontoon islands.

Sponsoring and decorating one of the islands as a group is also an excellent option for giving.  Several team groups have already choosen to pool their resources in this way.  There are two small and one large islands left ($750/$1,500) if a group of Masters is interested in this giving opportunity.

Please consider Bill's matching donation challenge.  You can start by celebrating tomorrow as "Taco Bill" Tuesday with a donation!
