The mission of the NAG group is to continue teaching technique while focusing on training all four strokes for racing. Workouts are designed to keep swimming interesting while also teaching the value of hard work. In this way it is possible to foster a long-term love of the sport.
The group is named after the USA Swimming National Age Group Motivational Time Standards which are used to accurately assess improvement and create appropriate goals. The goal of National Age Group is to develop swimmers who love the pursuit of personal excellence and are willing have an "all-in" approach to their chosen sport an an early age.
Expectations
- Consistent practice and meet attendance
- Attend all days of all scheduled meets qualified for
- Swim in finals as qualified as part of the athletic learning process
- Compete in the 400M/500Y Freestyle, 400M/Y IM and 200's of each stroke as assigned by the coach for mental and physical growth
- Know best times and set season goals
- Achieve "BB-A" NAG times and Championship meet standards
- Follow NAG group characteristics
- Focus on technical improvement
- Develop a process-oriented approach to the sport
- Steamline, all the time
- Two underwater dolphin kicks off all walls and use a breaststroke pulldown every time
- Learn time standards, personal best times and best practice times
Requirements
- 12 years old or younger
- Be on time
- Bring all assigned equipment every day
- Maintain a positive attitude towards oneself, one's teammates and one's coaches
- Current USA Swimming registration
- Use ARENA products
