75 swimmers from the FAST Development, Junior and Varsity groups competed last weekend in the first practice meet of the fall season. The energy and enthusiasm at the event was awesome. The second edition of Who's in That Lane? features Kathy Lany Written by Bill McGarvey, edited by his daughter Meghan McGarvey (CSUF 2005). Who's in That Lane? Well, that's Kathy Lany, a 10-year member of the FAST Masters Team! Kathy is a California native, born in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital in 1961. Coach Paul Davidson will be running a Masters-specific freestyle clinic on Saturday, November 11 8:30-10 AM at the Janet Evans Swim Complex. There will be two components to the clinic: a group session where swimmers are filmed and a one-on-one session (arranged at a separate time) where the recordings are reviewed. The clinic will be limited to 12 swimmers (4 person minimum). The cost is $100 ($125 for non-FAST athletes). Awesome FAST swimmers enjoyed an incredibly successful weekend recently. On Friday the 13th at the October Distance Invite 61 FAST athletes scared up: 35 personal best times 26 new USA Swimming National Age Group Motivational Times (1 "AAA", 2 "AA", 6 "A", 14 "BB", 3 "B") On Saturday and Sunday 62 FAST swimmers harvested a bounty of first place finishes: 390 personal best times 168 new USA Swimming National Age Group Motivational Times (1 "AAA", 21 "AA", 28 "A", 67 "BB", 51 "B") Congratulations to all!

FAST is excited to announce that veteran coach Paul Davidson is returning! Paul is relocating from the east coast and will start with FAST in the next week or two. Initially he will be assisting with all groups and will be directly tasked with creating new programming. Welcome back Coach Paul!

Congratulations to the White Team for winning the annual FAST Blue vs. White instrasquad meet on Saturday. In a close battle between two teams (nearly 130 swimmers in total) the end result was a thrilling 3,186 points to 3,300 points. Highlights: 226 New Personal Best Times 85 New USAS National Age Group Motivational Times (1 "AAA", 2 "AA", 11 "A", 29 "BB", 42 "B") It was a great way to start the 2023-24 season. 34 FAST swimmers finished their summer season by racing at the SCS Age Group Championships in Riverside, CA this past weekend. The team finished in 5th place overall with some excellent swims. 550 swimmers traveled to Fullerton over the weekend to compete in the 2023 CA/NV Sectional Championships held at the Janet Evans Swim Complex. The event attracted teams from three countries (Canada, China, Mexico) as well as non-California swimmers from across the United States (Arizona, Guam, Nevada, New Jersey). Of the 60 teams in attendance, three teams emerged as overall winners: Scarlet Aquatics (Large Division), FAST Swim Team (Medium Division), and Sun Devil Swimming (Small Division).
