Four FAST teammates will represent their high schools starting this Friday in Fresno, CA at the CIF State Championships. FAST swimmers raced against one of the best teams in the nation last weekend at the Sandpiper Cinco de Mayo meet in Las Vegas. 17 out of 23 swimmers won at least one of their heats, exemplifying one of our mottos -- "Win the race you are in!" Nine swimmers from the FAST Masters team competed in the USMS National Championships in Irvine last weekend. With 2,500 swimmers from all over the country, the competition was excellent. Last Friday, Simon Lamar from FAST competed in the USA Swimming Open Water Nationals in Sarasota, FL. Simon, who had previously competed in Budapest, Hungary at the World Championships in the 25-kilometer race, spent most of the 10-kilometer race in Florida between 12th and 15th place. With a surge on the final lap, he moved up to 9th place. As three foreign athletes finished ahead of him, Simon's strong finish enabled him to become the 6th American in the field, thus securing the final spot on the USA Swimming National...

At the annual Distance Dogfight meet on Saturday FAST athletes challenged themselves and each other in an event which featured very freestyle event (except for the 50). 51 swimmers showed great strength, competitiveness and resolve in the 1500-800-400-200-100 series of long course events. Last week, 15 FAST swimmers from the National and Senior groups traveled to Austin, TX to compete in the Four Corners Sectional Championships. The large event, held at the ecxellent facilities of the University of Texas, found FAST racing against stiff and unfamiliar competition. It was a fanstastic learning and growth experience overall. Last week Cera Mallory formally committed to swim for Utah Tech in St George, UT. Cera, a freestyle and breaststroke specialist, will be a vital part of the Trailblazers' push towards excellence in their third season as a NCAA Division 1 program. Congratulations Cera!
