Congratulations to Jason Lee on being selected to the SCS All-Star Zone Team. Jason will compete in the 11-12 division. FAST's own James Gallagher will also serve as the team's head coach for the event which will happen the first week of August. Twelve boys and twelve girls from each age group were selected for the honor of representing Southern California Swimming in Sacramento, CA. Good luck Jason and James!
With an excellent teaching staff, including FAST swimmers Raine Parker and Ayanna Thompson, more than 150 local children are learning to swim the Janet Evans Swim Complex this summer. Information on the FAST summer swimming classes and other programs are below. Make it a great, safe summer!
This morning in his second appearance at the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary Simon Lamar finished as the top American in the field. After 5 hours 6 minutes and 13 seconds, Simon swam to a 12th place overall in the 25K event. Earlier in the week Simon competed in the 5K event, finishing in 15th place. He is pictured after the race with American Brennan Gravley and president of USA Swimming Tim Hinchey. These were the second World Championships for Simon, the previous being the 2017 edition also...
At our mid-season tune-up, the June Age Group Championships two weekends ago, FAST athletes recorded 36 personal best times. Our 20 swimmers in the meet also achieved 20 new USAS National Age Group Times (8 "AAA", 9 "AA", 1 "A", 2 "BB) in the midst of heavy training. Congratulations to all our JAG participants!
At the meet last Saturday FAST swimmers got the opportunity to race some new faces from San Diego and Clovis as well as college athletes from the University of Southern California. Our athletes were able to swim up to six events and establish new times. FAST recorded 155 best times and 42 new USAS NAG times (1 "AAA", 3 "AA", 20 "A", 9 "BB", 14 "B"). Matthew Chai was honored again for his outstanding senior high school swimming season. The Orange County Register named Matthew the 2022 Swimmer of the Year. You can read the full article here. This morning FAST's Simon Lamar was added to the USA Swimming World Championship roster. Simon will compete in his second World Championships, the last being in 2017 in Hungary and he will again be competing in the 25-kilometer event. The race, which will take more than five hours to complete, occurs on June 30th in Lake Lupa, Budapest Hungary. Check out the FINA website for more information on the open water event and all the other swimming championships which will be held. Congratulations and good luck Simon!
