This past weekend at the Kevin B. Perry Invitational Meet 81% of FAST swimmers raced to lifetime bests. This week will be the first major competition this season as we attend the SCS Kevin Perry Invitational meet. Kevin Perry was the long-time coach of FAST who passed away from cancer in 2008. Coach Kevin was the club coach for FAST’s last homegrown Olympian, Tyler Clary (2012 London – Men’s 200 Meter Backstroke Gold). One hundred and five FAST athletes competed in the October Invite this past weekend at the Janet Evans Swim Complex. Despite the drizzle on Saturday, the early season meet was a great success with FAST swimmers compiling 44% improved times (42% for girls and 45% for boys). A total of 285 improved times were recorded (136 for girls and 149 for boys). FAST athletes also achieved 25 new 2021-2024 USA Swimming National Age Group Motivational Times (19 "A" times, 2 "AA" times, 4 "AAA"). NAG Times will be replacing the...

Congratulations to FAST swimmers and staff on being awarded the 2022 USA Swimming Club Excellence Bronze Medal status. This award is based upon results achieved by 18&U team members in comparison with swimmers nationwide. FAST was one of only 12 Southern California LSC teams (7%) to attain this distinction for the upcoing season. "Work Works!" Complete 2022 Club Excellence list here

USA Swimming has confirmed Simon Lamar's selection to the USA National Open Water Team based upon his 4th place finish at the Las Vegas Open Water Champions Cup earlier this month. Simon has previously been a member of the USAS National Junior Team (18 & Under), and this is his second placement on the National Team. You can read more here. Congratulations Simon!

Last week Coach Jon Urbanchek dropped by Independence Park to see his "colors" training system in action. Based upon a 3,000 for time test set, Coach Jon's method uses each swimmer's threshold pace (the fastest speed they can hold continuously without going into lactic acid overload) to determine training intensities and paces for all race distances. Luckily FAST National Development team members (as well as some hardy guests from the Senior Development group) were ready. Sunny Hills Senior Syler Kao made it official last week -- he will be attending University of California San Diego next fall. Skyler is a Junior National qualifier in the 800/1500 Meter freestyle events and will be an immediate contributor to the Tritons' swimming squad. Congratulations Skyler!

Sonora High School Senior Matthew Chai will has confirmed that he will be attending UC Berkeley next fall. Matthew is a Senior National qualifier and participated in the Olympic Trials Wave II last summer in the 800/1500M freestyle. After being heavily recruited he has decided to pursue his academic and athletic goals nearby in Northern California. Congratulations Matthew!
