Last weekend FAST swimmers displayed their brilliance at the Las Vegas Super Final meet. Highlights: 94 personal best times 27 new USA Swimming National Age Group Motivational Times (4 "AA", 3 "A", 12 "BB", 8 "B) This highly successful event concluded our fall short course season. In Huntington Beach this weekend FAST swimmers raced at the CA/NV Sectional Championships. Six of the ten swimmers competing established new personal bests. Next up for the crew is Holiday Training Camp then on to more competitions in the new year. Congratulations to all on a great fall season!
Luke Leon Guerrero and Kevin Yum, both Juniors at Troy High School, competed in their first Junior Nationals over the weekend. Successfully recording impressive performances, the pair toured the University of Chicago and Northwestern campuses. Next up for the duo is the Sectional Championships this week in Huntington Beach.
This past weekend FAST swimmers performed exceptionally well at the WAG Championships in Huntington Beach. Highlights: 31 swimmers combined for 103 personal best times 43 new National Age Group times were achieved (11 "AAA", 22 "AA", 10 "A") 1 new Sectional time Congratulations to everyone on a successful meet!
Last weekend in Anaheim Hills, 60 FAST swimmers made a strong showing with numerous heat winners and multiple new WAG cuts achieved. Highlights: 163 personal best times 64 new USA Swimming National Age Group Motivational Times (1 "AAA", 6 "AA", 13 "A", 30 "BB", 14 "B") Congratulations to all!
Congratulations to Simon Lamar on his performance at the 2023 10K Open Water World Cup in Funchal, Portugal. Competing against a stellar international field which featured multiple Olympians, Simon finished 58 out of 90+ swimmers. The top American was 24th. Simon, who learned to swim at FAST, became a CIF champion, attended two Olympic Trials, made five National Teams and represented the USA at two World Championships will now focus his energies on his final semester of school and swimming at Harvard University. Congratulations and good luck!
On Saturday Simon Lamar will compete with the USAS Open Water National Team in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. Pictured is the island from the air and the training facilty for the athletes. Simon and 95 other men will compete in the 5th leg of the 2023 World Aquatics Open Water World Cup. Congratulations to the dozen FAST swimmers who competed in the Hawaiian Senior Champs last weekend in Oahu. Highlights: Every team member scored points for the team FAST finished in 4th place in the team competition Event winners were Eveline Grannis (1650 Free) and Luke Leon Guerrero (400 IM, 500 Free, 1650 Free) Luke Leon Guerrero also qualified for Winter and Summer Junior Nationals for the first time This annual trip is the type of excellent opportunity which FAST pursues for our athletes' personal growth.
