The FAST Swim Team kicked off the new season instyle with an awesome intrasquad meet followed by fun and festivities at the pool -- including two water slides and 100 pizzas! Swimmers achieved 382 lifetime best times! Including: 2 new "AAA" times 2 new "AA" times 5 new "A" times 23 new "BB" times 34 new "B" times That was a genuine UNITEAM event at its best! FAST had a fantastic season-ending meet at Summer Age Group Championships! Our 32 athletes posted an outstanding 176 best times and together earned a 5th place overall finish with 1558.5 points! Luke Leon Guerrero competed at the 2024 Speedo Summer Championships in Irvine, July 23-29, 2024. This meet serves as the final national level competition of the summer for Junior National, National, and Olympic Trials level swimmers. This was Luke's national championship debut. Luke swam the 1500 Free, 400 Free, and 800 Free, posting lifetime bests in two out of the three events. He cut 4.66 seconds in the 1500 Free and 8.91 seconds in the 800 Free finishing in 26th and 25th place, respectively. Congratulations, Luke!

Fifteen FAST swimmers competed at the 2024 Summer Sectionals at the Janet Evans Swim Complex July 18-21, 2024. This is a regional USA Swimming competition that brings together swimmers from California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. FAST took first place in the Medium Teams division with 499 points, 59 points ahead of the runner-up Roadrunner Aquatic from Bakersfield, CA. Ninety-two FAST swimmers competed in this summer's FAST Finale at the Janet Evans Swim Complex on July 15-16, 2024. This meet was the last meet of the season for many swimmers, as well as a final opportunity to qualify for the upcoming Southern California Summer Age Group Championships next week. This meet was also the first Long Course racing experience for our Junior 1 swimmers. Former FAST coach Jon Urbanchek passed away last night at his home in Fullerton surrounded by his family. Jon is a legend in the international swimming community and was an important mentor and friend to FAST since his return to California in 2010. From Anaheim High School to Long Beach State, the University of Michigan, USC, and every Olympic Games since 1976, Jon has deeply touched many lives in and out of the pool.
